What we collect
- Customers: name, email, phone, collection and delivery addresses or postcodes, details of the items to be moved, and booking and payment records.
- Carriers: name, business details, contact details, vehicle and service details, coverage area, and documents such as photo ID, insurance certificates and licences.
- Anyone who contacts us: what you tell us in your message.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To get you quotes, arrange bookings and keep in touch about your job (contract).
- To check carriers’ identity, insurance and licences, and keep our marketplace safe (legitimate interests, and legal obligations where they apply).
- To keep financial records (legal obligation).
- To reply to your questions and improve our service (legitimate interests).
We do not sell your data, and we do not send marketing without your consent.
Who we share it with
- Carriers: job details so they can quote. Your name and phone number go only to the carrier you book.
- Service providers that help us run the site: website hosting, our form service (Formspree), email, and Stripe for payments. They act on our instructions.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
Some service providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards approved under UK data protection law.
How long we keep it
Quote requests that don’t lead to a booking: up to [12] months. Booking and payment records: 6 years, for tax and accounting. Carrier documents: while the carrier is registered, plus [12] months.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, or to receive a copy. Email info@cargolinker.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
